FARMER – MUHINDI COFFEE ESTATE
Muhindi Coffee Estate was founded in 1987 by Stephen Muhindi and is now run by the second generation of the family.
The farm is located in Kirinyaga County, a region known for its fertile volcanic soils, high altitude, and ideal conditions for growing exceptional Arabica coffee.
Here you’ll find the iconic SL28 and innovative Ruiru 11 varieties. In fact, Muhindi was one of the first pilot farms where Ruiru 11 was introduced in the late 1980s.

GROWN WITH RESPECT FOR NATURE
At Muhindi Coffee Estate, sustainability isn’t a trend — it’s how things are done.
The farm uses organic fertilisation and avoids synthetic herbicides. This keeps the soil healthy, supports biodiversity, and allows the coffee plants to develop naturally and slowly.
All coffee cherries are handpicked, with only the ripest red cherries selected for processing.
Quality starts at the farm.
