MOYEE SINGLE ORIGIN
SPECIALTY COFFEE - RADICAAL GENIETEN
This coffee is made from the top 5% of beans in the world. With a cupping score of 81, this coffee can rightfully be called specialty coffee. “Oh really? And who decides that?” The Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) has developed a protocol for this that may only be applied by strictly regulated Quality Graders. Very few coffee companies in the Netherlands have more Q-graders on their team than Moyee. We record the cupping results in Tastify and on the blockchain. That way, quality doesn’t remain a vague concept, but becomes something measurable and verifiable.
But taste is subjective, so in the end, you decide!

COMPANIES
We are not against Fairtrade — we simply go a big step further. With FairChain, we aim to restore balance in the coffee supply chain. Our goal is to create a 50/50 balance between coffee producers and coffee drinkers. It’s quite a hardcore ambition, but with the coffees we launched at Albert Heijn, we’ve done a pretty good job. More than half of the total value remains in the country of origin.
Almost all coffee-producing countries depend on development aid. By investing in coffee processing in the country of origin, valuable jobs are created and we help stimulate economic independence.
HOW DO WE DO IT?
The roasting and packaging take place in Kenya, we sell the coffee, and the value is shared fairly. An honest relationship between producers and consumers. This simple shift in the coffee supply chain improves the lives of millions of people in a radical and positive way.

FARMERS
KIAMBU - KENYA
“THIS SMOOTH, ELEGANT SINGLE-ESTATE ARABICA COFFEE IS PICKED, ROASTED, AND PACKED IN KENYA.”
By having all these value-adding activities carried out by our partners in Kenya, we leave 300% more money in the country of origin than the big coffee brands do!
The coffee was harvested by a small farming community in the Kiambu region of Kenya. At an altitude of 1,635 meters, the coffee grows peacefully among guava and banana trees — slowly and naturally — allowing the true flavors of this microclimate to develop deep inside the coffee bean.
The coffee cherries were handpicked at peak ripeness. You can taste the difference! They were then washed and sun-dried at the Mbumi Coffee Mill. Our head roaster, Jose Mollura, coached Kenyan roaster Peter Muhaki to slowly roast our coffee to a City+ roast, so you can enjoy the sweetest and fruitiest Kenyan flavors in your cup.

FORESTS
Every year, 6.5 million hectares of natural forest disappear worldwide — the equivalent of 17 football fields per minute. In coffee-producing countries such as Ethiopia and Kenya, trees are cut down because coffee does not generate enough income or because there is not enough money to properly manage the forests. With our 1 Million Tree Revolution, we aim to reverse this trend. Together with you, we will plant coffee trees in Ethiopia.
With Moyee tree planting, not only are more trees preserved — helping absorb more CO₂ — but farmers also receive these trees to help them work toward a living income. Twelve million farmers live below the poverty line. Madness. Through our coffee tree planting program, we are taking the next step to help change that. Will you join us?
