What is ISO and what are ISO 9001 and ISO 14001?

ISO stands for the International Organization for Standardization. It publishes standards that help organizations work in a structured, consistent way.

Moyee Netherlands works with two ISO standards:

ISO 9001 is about quality management. The core question: are we delivering what our customers expect, every time? It covers everything from how we handle customer requirements to how we control our processes and deal with complaints. The customer is the starting point. Everything we do in the organization should contribute to meeting customer expectations.

ISO 14001 is about environmental management. The core question: do we know our environmental impact, and are we actively working to reduce it? It covers energy use, emissions, waste, packaging choices, and how we comply with environmental laws and permits.

At Moyee we combine both in one integrated management system. In practice this means that when we look at a process like roasting, we look at it from both sides: does the roast meet the quality spec? And are we managing the energy use and emissions responsibly?

The scope of our system is Moyee Netherlands: the Amsterdam office and the Dutch roastery. Our supply chain starts with green coffee from Ethiopia. While the Ethiopian operations are outside our certification, we need to manage what arrives at our door (quality inspection) and understand the upstream footprint (transport emissions).
